Prince Michael

The Rock HotelPrince Michael

Prince Michael of Kent is a member of the British royal family who is 52nd in line to the British throne as of January 2024. He is a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. Prince Michael is a figure known not just for his royal lineage but also for his deep involvement in charitable activities, his military background, and his keen interest in Russian culture and history. His royal engagements and charitable work have made him a respected member of the British Royal Family, with a particular focus on fostering British-Russian relations.

He took a flight to Gibraltar on 17th October 2014 for a military working visit and attended some civic events.

He began his tour with An Arrival Ceremonial at HM Naval Base. Once there, Prince Michael met with the Commander of the British Forces, the Chief of Staff, and the Commanding Officer of the Gibraltar Regiment. Whilst on the Rock, the Prince of Kent conducted a series of military visits to British Forces Gibraltar, as Commodore-in-Chief of the Maritime Reserve. As part of the arrival ceremony, a 21 round Royal Salute was fired as a military honour. The prince then inspected the Royal Gibraltar Regiment and Band, saying a few words as he walked by. Following this, the Government invited Prince Michael to a reception with MP's and other dignitaries at Grand Battery House where he was welcomed by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo.

The visit not only reaffirmed the ties between the UK and Gibraltar but also showcased the Royal Family's commitment to the territories under the British Crown.
